Email

Penn National shipper Hymn Note regained her good form following two dull performances to win Tuesday night’s $35,000 Presidents Day Handicap at Charles Town.

A 5-year-old mare ridden by Dale Whittaker for trainer Tim Kreiser, Hymn Note ($5.20) led from start to finish, winning the 6 1/2-furlong race for fillies and mares by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:19.50. It was her first win since she took a similar $35,000 overnight handicap at Charles Town last August and hr fifth win in 26 career starts.

Saturday Surprise, the 2-1 third choice in a field of seven, finished second, a length in front of 11-1 outsider Heart of Rome.
