Charles Town Races in West Virginia has elevated Charles McIntosh to the position of racing secretary, filling a position vacated last year after the track fired its former racing secretary, Randy Wehrman.
McIntosh has been in Charles Town’s racing office for the past three years and will take the position effective immediately, according to a release from Charles Town’s parent company, Penn National Gaming Inc. McIntosh has previously worked at the old Latonia racetrack, now known as Turfway Park, and had also been the director of racing at Birmingham Turf Club, which closed in 1995.
Wehrman, who had been Charles Town’s racing secretary since 2008, was fired in December after being escorted off the track grounds by security personnel. Officials for Charles Town have declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding his firing.

DRINK OR SINK went too fast on the lead last time before fading on the turf at Tampa, and should be less aggressive here with blinkers off. Olguin was aboard for his good fall races on the Poly, and should have him closing at a square price in his second start of the year. GOOD BETTER BEST finished up the track behind two next-out winners when he tried the dirt for the first time March 30 at Gulfstream. He hasn't faced this easy a field in a while, and is no stranger to filling out the exactor.
