Mace and Samantha Siegel, the father-daughter team who own the 2004 champion 2-year-old male, Declan's Moon, have donated 10 percent of the gelding's gross earnings from last season to charity - and say they plan to continue the program through his career.

Last week, the Siegels distributed $50,000 in $5,000 increments to 10 charities with affiliations to Thoroughbred racing.

According to Mace Siegel, the charities were the California Equine Retirement Foundation, California Thoroughbred Horsemen's Foundation, Eddie Gregson Foundation, Grayson-Jockey Club Foundation, the Jockey Club Foundation, Kentucky Horse Park, UC-Davis equine research program, Race for Education scholarship foundation, Tranquility Farm, and Winners Foundation.

Declan's Moon is unbeaten in four starts. He earned $507,300 last year in a campaign highlighted by three stakes victories, including the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity in December.

Trained by Ron Ellis, Declan's Moon is expected to make his first start of 2005 in the $200,000 Santa Catalina Stakes at Santa Anita on March 5.
