Charedi's Peak imposing in Larkspur

Email

Charedi's Peak heads a field of 10 Michigan-bred fillies and mares in the $50,000 Larkspur Handicap at Great Lakes Downs. The six-furlong Larkspur is the sixth of nine races.

The 4-year-old Charedi's Peak, the 9-5 favorite on the track's morning line, signaled her readiness with an easy 10-length victory over allowance company on May 29. Bred by her owner, the Campbell Stable, Charedi's Peak has won 5 of 6 locally, including three stakes.

Ronnie Allen trains Charedi's Peak, who will break from post 7 under regular rider Mike Allen.

Nell's Enjoyment, the 120-pound highweight, was a champion last year at 3, but winless in two starts this year.

Dublin Dutchess and Miss Silversides will be saddled by leading trainer Bob Gorham. Both have been consistent locally. The 4-year-old Miss Silversides was second to Charedi's Peak in her last start, with Dublin Dutchess right behind.

Dublin Dutchess, 3, had an eventful trip last out in the $50,000 Regret Stakes a week ago. A short price that day, she reared at the start and lost her rider, but was game and continued with the field.

Deb's Favoite Gift was second in this race last year when runners trained by Gerald Bennett ran one-two-three. She is now in the barn of John Rupert.
