Champion Benny the Bull’s first winner scores in Puerto Rico


Champion sprinter Benny the Bull was represented by his first winner May 11, when Joe Pike won his career debut at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico.

The colt, out of the winning Dove Hunt mare Allofeverything, won by 3 1/2 lengths and covered two furlongs in :22.47.

Benny the Bull was undefeated in four starts during 2008 to earn the Eclipse Award as champion sprinter. He won the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, the Grade 2 True North Handicap and Smile Sprint Handicap, and the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes that season, and also captured the Grade 1 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash in 2007. Overall, the Florida-bred son of Lucky Lionel won nine times from 20 starts and earned $2,353,430.

Benny the Bull is standing the 2013 breeding season at Winding Oaks Farm in Ocala, Fla., for a fee of $2,500. He moved from Vinery Florida in Summerfield, Fla., and also shuttled to Brazil. Benny the Bull has 45 foals in his first crop.
