Chambers filly in it to win it

AUBURN, Wash. - Trainer Mike Chambers appears to be helping himself to a big edge in Thursday's Emerald Downs feature, a 6 1/2-furlong race for fillies and mares eligible to be claimed for $20,000 to $18,000 that has drawn a field of eight.

Chambers has entered Wings of Justice for the $20,000 claiming price. Wings of Justice, a 4-year-old daughter of Tribunal who races for Sue and Lyle Malick, graduated on the maiden special weight level here last season and is coming off a Turf Paradise campaign that netted back-to-back wins on the allowance level. In her last outing, on April 14, Wings of Justice ran fourth as the favorite in the $30,000 Cactus Handicap in Phoenix, but she stumbled badly at the start in that race. Seth Martinez will ride Wings of Justice at 123 pounds.

Wings of Justice figures to get her most serious challenge from Oh Yes I Am, who is coming off a second-place finish in a six-furlong race May 17 on the same level as Thursday's feature. Oh Yes I Am, a 6-year-old daughter of Alphabet Soup trained by Bill Tollett, was beaten a length by Ms. Patrona in 1:10.40. For her career, Oh Yes I Am has won 5 of 32 starts, including 2 of 7 at Thursday's distance.

Also a threat is Me O Me O My, who is coming off a sharp second-place effort against $15,000 claimers going six furlongs on May 25. Me O Me O My, a 7-year-old trained by Charles Essex, was beaten less than a length by Follow Your Shot in 1:09.20 and could move forward off that race.
