ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Kentucky shipper Chace City won Sunday's $125,800 Victoria Stakes at Woodbine, despite ducking in repeatedly through the stretch of the five-furlong dash for 2-year-olds.

Chace City broke on top under Shaun Bridgmohan and dueled with Fast Trick through a wind-aided first quarter of :21.98 seconds. He opened up a clear lead on the turn and scored by five and a quarter lengths, in a final time of :59.21.

"He's a colt with a lot of talent," said Bridgmohan. "When he got to the front, he started goofing around a lot-it was the new surroundings, and he was just playing around."

Chace City ($5.50) banked $75,000 for owner Gold Square LLC. He is unbeaten in two starts for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Pete's Wonder wound up second, and Dafoe was a distant third in the seven-horse field. Bear Soldier, the even-money favorite, finished a non-threatening sixth.

* Count to Three ($8.40) notched her first stakes in Sunday's supporting feature, the $77,000 Zadracarta, for Ontario-foaled fillies and mares. With Emma Wilson aboard, Count to Three completed six furlongs on the grass in 1:08.29.
