Catty Buddha tops Inaugural at Columbus

The stakes schedule at Columbus gets under way Saturday as a field of six 3-year-old fillies will go six furlongs in the $10,000-added Inaugural Stakes.
Catty Buddha, trained by Frank Davis, comes into the race off a distant second against males in the one-mile Lincoln Derby on June 26 and should be regarded as the favorite in this spot. In the derby, she was second to the multiple stakes winner Bach’s Homebrew who has now won four straight stakes races. Catty Buddha won her maiden at Fonner Park in April and returned in her next start June 4 to score an entry-level allowance win, rallying from well off the pace in both.
Catty Buddha should have a solid pace to run at in this spot and will have Karlo Lopez aboard from post 4.
This Time Baby makes her Nebraska debut for trainer Kim Veerhusen and also will merit respect as she arrives here from California. This Time Baby has been a steady runner against claiming company in California, most recently finishing third against $12,500 company. She has been off since her May 15 start at Hollywood Park and will have Jake Olesiak aboard from post 3.
Red Headed Woman won three straight races after arriving at Fonner Park this spring and will be another to keep an eye out for in the long stretch here. Her last start came just last weekend at Horsemen’s Park against $10,000 claiming company, where she was fifth after an awkward start. Chris Fackler has the mount for trainer Mark Lemburg.
