Catlaunch wires Gendelman

Catlaunch led every step of the way in the $50,000 Gendleman Memorial at River Downs, drawing off in the stretch to win by five and a quarter lengths.

Jockey Ivan Gonzalez hustled the 9-year-old gelding out of the gate and took him toward the inside. Catlaunch responded when challenged on the far turn and Gonzalez kept Catluanch to task through the stretch while drifting slightly.

Pyrite Personal was second, three and a quarter lengths a head of Allsarot in third. The running time for the mile and a sixteenth Gendelman was 1.44.80 over a sloppy main track.

Two and a half inches of rain fell in the Cincinnati area Saturday morning and the event was taken off the turf. Catlaunch returned $7 as the lukewarm favorite.
