Catalog for CTHS Ontario yearling sale now online


The catalog for the 2017 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division) Canadian Premier yearling sale is now online, featuring 318 horses.

The auction will take place Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion in Rexdale, Ontario, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Eastern.

Canadian-bred graduates of the CTHS Ontario sales will be eligible for a series of  restricted stakes races at Woodbine. Two-year-old colts and geldings may contest the Muskoka Stakes, while fillies can enter the Simcoe Stakes. Both carry purses of $200,000 and will be run at six furlongs. In early August, Woodbine will also card a handful of 2-year-old allowance races for CTHS Ontario sale graduates.

At 3, males are eligible for the Elgin Stakes, and fillies may enter the Algoma Stakes, both worth $125,000 at 1 1/16 miles There is also a pair of $125,000 stakes for 3-year-olds and up of any gender, with the Kenora Stakes being held at six furlongs and the Halton Stakes going 1 1/2 miles on turf.

Stallions represented by their first crops of yearlings in the catalog include Big Screen, Flashback, Goldencents, He’s Had Enough, It’s a Danzig, Itsmyluckyday, Magician, Moro Tap, Mucho Macho Man, Noble Mission, Real Solution, Revolutionary, Souper Speedy, and Uncaptured.
