Castellano to serve three-day suspension

ELMONT, N.Y. – Javier Castellano will serve a three-day suspension starting Sunday for a careless-riding infraction in the second race on June 17.

Castellano was aboard Ethan Hunt, who tightened things up on Three to Thirteen entering the turn of a maiden special race for 2-year-olds. Three to Thirteen clipped heels and unseated jockey Eric Cancel.

Ethan Hunt finished third but was disqualified to last.

Castellano was suspended five days, but the penalty was reduced to three for waiving his right of appeal. Castellano, who is riding at Thistledown on Saturday, will miss Sunday as well as June 30 and July 1.

The stewards also fined AmTote International $10,000 for an incident that occurred here May 13 and forced the New York Racing Association to cancel wagering on four horses on that day’s card. Those four runners were originally listed as scratched by AmTote before the error was caught. Those horses were allowed to run for purse money only.

Even the best make mistakes-hope he takes it like a man-I'm sure he will.

Javier is the best jockey in America.

Him and Ryan Moore are probably the 2 best jockeys on the planet.
