Castagnola named director of operations at Woodford Thoroughbreds

Woodford Thoroughbreds has named Shannon Castagnola director of operations, to assist with business development for the outfit’s Kentucky and Florida properties.

Castagnola previously worked at ownership syndicate West Point Thoroughbreds, in which she specialized in client service and the selling of syndicated shares. She has also previously worked at Taylor Made Sales Agency as the executive assistant to the executive vice president of private sales.

“I couldn’t be any more pumped about joining the Woodford Thoroughbreds team,” Castagnola said. “This is a group that is knowledgeable, kind, honest, and dedicated to quality. In addition, we intend on having some fun along the way.”

Woodford Thoroughbreds is a breeding, sales, and training operation with bases in Ocala, Fla., and Versailles, Ky.

“We are in a position of strength, with an opportunity to grow,” said Woodford General Manager Matt Lyons. “We have broodmare bands in both locations, and an exciting roster of young stallions in Florida. In addition, the Ocala farm features an expansive training facility with a 5/8ths dirt training track and a 1.5 mile European turf track. Woodford is also one of the few consignors that represents at all sales; including the 2-year-old sales. Woodford Thoroughbreds is thrilled to have Shannon focus on recruiting business and increasing the use of these different services. Shannon’s strength in client relations and her understanding of the differing needs of the breeder, seller, and race horse owner will be a huge asset to us.”
