'Casper' proven at this level

EDMONTON, Alberta - Justcallmecasper bids for his third victory in his last four starts when he heads a field of seven 3-year-olds entered for a claiming price of $25,000 in Friday's 6 1/2-furlong feature here at Northlands Park.

Justcallmecasper is dropping from a fourth-place finish in a $32,000 optional claimer to a level at which he went wire to wire on June 18. Trained by Ernie Keller, Justcallmecasper also won over the $17,500 kind on June 7. Owned by K6 Ranches and Robert Morgan, Justcallmecasper will have Perry Winters as his new rider.

Cuddabinthewhiskey comes off a win for $17,500. He was claimed out of his last start by owners Robert Vargo and Norm Castiglione. Formerly trained by Red Smith, Cuddabinthewhiskey is now trained by Monica Russell. He will break from the outside post under returning rider Leanne Painter.

Copenhagen Kisses, owned by Red Diamond Stable, has the rail. After winning a maiden special weight at 6 1/2 furlongs here July 1, Copenhagen Kisses showed little in an entry-level allowance at a mile.

Remarkable Weekend, with Rickey Walcott up, is going after his third win of the year. Three races ago, he defeated $25,000 claimers sprinting six furlongs.

Also with two victories on his card is Boldtoboot, who makes his debut for trainer Greg Tracy after being claimed out of a third-place finish for $15,000 at Prairie Meadows.
