CashCall purse bumped to $1M

The purse for the Grade 2 CashCall Mile at Hollywood Park has been boosted to $1 million and will be run at night under the lights on Friday, July 6, track officials announced Wednesday.

Sponsored by the loan company owned by horse owner J. Paul Reddam, the CashCall is a one-mile grass race for fillies and mares. The race carried a purse of $750,000 in 2006.

In a statement, Hollywood's racing secretary, Martin Panza said, "We've always believed in promoting Friday night racing at Hollywood Park, and for the first time, we will have a major racing event on a night program."

The CashCall will be supported by two other stakes races July 6: the Grade 2, $150,000 A Gleam Invitational Handicap for filly-mare sprinters, and the $100,000-added Flawlessly Stakes for fillies on grass.
