Casanova Jack cruises in Oliver's Twist

EmailCasanova Jack ($8), one of only two horses in the field with a previous win on turf, drew clear in the stretch to post a 1 3/4-length victory in the $45,000 Oliver's Twist Stakes for 2-year-old Maryland-breds at Laurel Park.

Sent off as the second choice in a field of six, Casanova Jack, ridden by Horacio Karamanos for trainer Carlos Garcia, covered the six furlongs on firm turf in 1:08.76.

Garcia said Casanova Jack is likely to return to the main track for the Maryland Million Nursery on Oct. 13.

Ovechkin finished second with Jo's Mojo third.

Tide Dancer tired to finish fifth of six as the 4-5 favorite.

* Hartigan ($3.80) outfought Kosmo's Buddy by a neck in the $45,000 Gin Talking for 2-year-old Maryland-bred fillies.

Trained by Richard Small and ridden by Luis Garcia, Hartigan won her turf debut by running six furlongs in 1:08.94.

My Dance Partner nosed out Expect No Love for third. My Little Josie, the 8-5 favorite, finished fifth.
