Carterista: Final Prophecy gets there

Skip Smith
Final Prophecy wins the $75,000 Carterista Handicap at Calder on Saturday.

Final Prophecy finished best of all down the middle of the track to wear down He's Crafty and post a three-quarter-length victory in the $75,000 Carterista Handicap. Miesque's Approval, the 3-2 favorite, finished third.

Final Prophecy, a son of World Stage trained by David Brownlee, was ridden to victory by Eibar Coa and paid $26.80.

Final Prophecy raced towards the rear of the pack in the 1 1/16-mile Carterista, came wide into the stretch, and caught He's Crafty near the wire. He's Crafty raced well placed off the pace of Keep Cool, gained command at midstretch, but failed to last.

Miesque's Approval, making his first start since Oct. 6, rallied belatedly along the rail but never threatened the top pair.

The victory was the first for the 6-year-old Final Prophecy since he upset the Bonnie Heath Turf Cup Handicap at 57-1 here on Nov. 13.
