Carry Back Stakes preview

Too Much Bling stamped himself as one of the top 3-year-old sprinters in the country with his 113 Beyer performance in the sloppy Bay Shore Stakes, then didn't have the easiest of trips in the Woody Stephens last time out. Breaking from the inside post position, Too Much Bling and Garrett Gomez were pinned down on the rail for the entire seven furlongs yet still had some run in the stretch. The turn back to six furlongs should be just what the doctor ordered, and he looms a major forward factor in the Carry Back.

Mach Ride is a perfect 4-4 in his career, and the lightly-raced runner has yet to take a backward step on the Beyer Speed Figure scale. He rallied powerfully from off the pace to win the Valid Video at Calder last month, but still has some problems with his lead changes. He'll be running late, but must avoid a bad shuffle from his inside post.

Laptop Computer worked hard to beat three others at Belmont in first start off the short layoff. He could be the speed nearest the rail so don't be surprised if his rider sends him hard from the gate. It'll be interesting to see if he can put two big numbers back-to-back.

Folk Festival is in career form, but was aided by a speed-favoring track when posting a 101 Beyer Speed Figure in local N1X run.

Unbeaten Northern Soldier brings some serious California speed to the party, and he may try to outfoot Too Much Bling down the backstretch. He won the Laz Barrera in his last start, but will get a pretty big test against the favorite.

Blazing Rate has a puncher's chance coming from the clouds.
