Cappuchino brews up victory

ALBANY, Calif. - Cappuchino continued trainer Jerry Hollendorfer's hot streak with 3-year-olds as he and entrymate Yougottawanna ran one-two in the $59,100 Golden State Mile at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday.

Cappuchino ($3) stalked pacesetter Lethal Grande and took the lead at the quarter pole. He opened a 2 1/2 length lead over his entrymate into the lane and maintained that advantage to the wire. He won the one-mile race in 1:35.57. Late-closing Arsen was third 1 1/2 lengths behind Yougottawanna.

Cappuchino's victory was the third this month for a talented Hollendorfer trainee. Comebacking Metatron won a six-furlong allowance race on Feb. 1 and is being pointed to the March 2 San Rafael Stakes at Santa Anita.

On Friday, USS Tinosa won the Sham Stakes at Santa Anita for Hollendorfer. His next start could be in the March 17 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita.

"There are no standouts among the 3-year-olds, and our horses are consistent. We think they'll fit in well. We've got some decisions to make," said Hollendorfer, who indicated Cappuchino and Yougottawanna will be pointed to the March 9 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields.
