The heavily favored Capitalism paid $2.70 to win in the $54,550 Sales Stakes for 3- and 4-year-olds at Northlands Park on Friday. He finished a neck behind his stablemate Centrefire, but following an inquiry, the stewards reversed the order of finish in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint. With Quincy Welch aboard, Capitalism dueled with Holler at the Moon early and then couldn’t hold off Centrefire, who came from a stalking position. However, Centrefire, ridden by Dane Nelson, drifted in and bumped Capitalism a couple of times in midstretch, and the stewards ruled that the interference was enough to move him back to second. Xtreme Denigray finished another 2 1/2 lengths back in third. The first two finishers are trained by Greg Tracy. It was his ninth stakes win at the meet. The final time was 1:18.78. Blameitontheknight and the heavily favored Queenoftheforest dueled for six furlongs before Blameitontheknight edged clear in the final sixteenth to win the fillies’ division of the Sales Stakes. She paid $6.30. Trained by Dale Saunders and ridden by Shannon Beauregard, she posted a final time of 1:18.89.
