Canterbury track report

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Jake Mauer and Thatusintheolbean will be inducted into the Canterbury Park Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Jake Mauer has been a fixture at Canterbury since its early days, selling his familiar "green sheet" selections to several generations of local horseplayers. A former boxer, Mauer is the patriarch of a formidable family of athletes, including grandson Joe Mauer, a catcher for the Minnesota Twins.

Thatusintheolbean won 13 stakes events in a career that spanned seven racing seasons. A two-time winner of the John Bullit Stakes and the Shakopee Turf Express, Thatsusintheolbean also captured the Brooks Fields Handicap, the Golden Gopher Stakes, and set a Canterbury Park course record for five furlongs on the turf. Bred by Harry Mangurian, Thatsusintheolbean was trained by Canterbury Hall of Fame trainer Doug Oliver for Nadine Andreas.
