Canterbury track report

Email

The Minnesota Thoroughbred Association has released the catalog for its annual yearling auction. Breeders' anticipation of the possibility of added gaming at Canterbury Park can be seen in the sales entries, which perhaps are the strongest ever assembled for the sale. Of the 84 yearlings nominated, only 73 will be offered due to limitations in stall space. The remaining 11 yearlings would draw into the sale in the event that any of the first 73 yearlings were withdrawn for any reason.

The catalog includes yearlings by Petionville, Boundary, Ghazi, Slew City Slew, Matty G, Zavata, Military, Tahkodha Hills, and Shot of Gold. The entire catalog can be downloaded from the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association's web site at www.mtassoc.com.

* Canterbury Park did not allow training over its main track last Saturday or Sunday following heavy rain that forced the cancellation of racing on Friday night after two races. The main track is normally closed on Monday but was opened this week to allow horsemen to make up for missed training time. Track clocker Ken Twiggs and his assistants were kept busy as 96 runners had timed workouts on Monday.
