Canterbury Park track report

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - In one of the deepest renewals in recent memory, 10 fillies and mares were entered in the $40,000 Minneapolis Stakes, to be run Sunday at Canterbury Park.

The 1 1/16-mile turf race features a three-horse entry from the barn of Hugh Robertson. One of Robertson's horses, Twilite Tryst, was entered in the HBPA Mile at Canterbury earlier this meet but didn't run. In her most recent start, Twilite Tryst captured an optional claimer over the turf at Arlington. Zoe Cadman is named to ride Twilite Tryst.

Robertson is also represented by the coupled entry of Oglala Sue and Sarah Jade, who won this year's Canterbury Oaks. Sarah Jade finished fourth in the HBPA Mile in her first start against older fillies and mares and would be a major factor with a repeat of that effort. Seth Martinez is named on both halves of the entry.

Ham and Eggs captured the HBPA Mile last month, prevailing in a four-horse photo. She lost as the favorite in an allowance race two weeks ago. Leading rider Derek Bell retains the mount.

Red Mimi ships here from Arlington Park. Claimed for $50,000 at Gulfstream in April, Red Mimi has an allowance win at Arlington from four starts since the claim. E.T. Baird is named on Red Mimi, who appears the probable pacesetter in the Minneapolis.

One runner who might go overlooked in the Minneapolis is Moonlit Maddie. A winner of two starts over the turf course this meeting, Moonlit Maddie finished a close third in the HBPA Mile last month. Leslie Mawing is her regular rider, and will be aboard Sunday.
