Canterbury: Glitter Star favored

Glitter Star will try statebred rivals for the first time this season when she faces eight Minnesota-bred fillies and mares in the $40,000 Princess Elaine Stakes at Canterbury Park. The race is at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

Minnesota's champion 3-year old filly last year, Glitter Star demonstrated her form could travel when she won an optional claiming event on the turf at Tampa Bay Downs in March.

Shipped to Keeneland for her next outing, Glitter Star made a looping move before flattening out late to finish behind Group 1 winner Latice in a turf allowance. Glitter Star has since finished second in two starts since returning to Canterbury Park, including her placing in the Minnesota H.B.P.A. Mile Stakes behind Galactic Cat. Richie Scherer trains Glitter Star, who is ridden at Canterbury by Dean Butler.

Masqued Monarch shouldn't be overlooked. A winner of two starts over the grass course last season, Masqued Monarch will be ridden by Jesse Garcia.
