Canadian sire Bear’s Kid relocates to Colebrook Farms

Grade 2 winner Bear’s Kid will relocate to Colebrook Farm in Uxbridge, Ontario, for the 2014 breeding season and will stand for an advertised fee of $2,410 ($2,500 Canadian).

The 10-year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid previously stood at T. C. Westmeath Stud Farm in Shelburne, Ontario. His first foals are 2-year-olds of 2013, and his first winner came on Aug. 24, when Asserting Bear won a maiden special weight at Woodbine.

Bear’s Kid won three of 15 career starts, racing primarily in Canada, for earnings of $249,599. His biggest win came in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes in 2005, and he also finished third in the 2007 Labeeb Stakes, both at Woodbine.

Bred in Kentucky by Adena Springs, Bear’s Kid is out of the Grade 1-winning Pleasant Tap mare Tap to Music, who is the dam of three winners from as many foals to race. He is from the family of Grade 2 winner and successful sire Northern Afleet, as well as Grade 1 winner Cuddles and Qatari Horse of the Year Hamriya.
