Came to Pass sharp following long layoff

PHOENIX - A layoff of nearly 21 months and some tough stakes foes couldn't stop Came to Pass, who posted an upset win in Saturday's $50,000 Caballos del Sol Handicap at Turf Paradise.

Owned by Three Sisters Thoroughbreds and trained by Mike Chambers, the 4-year-old son of Came Home pressed a sizzling pace under Ry Eikleberry, took over into the lane and edged clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Bobadieu set a sizzling pace and held on to be second, a neck in front of Red Sky Dubai in the the field of nine going six furlongs. Chayya Dance, the 2-1 favorite and stablemate of the winner, was never in the race, finishing eighth. White Spar, generally considered the top sprinting 3-year-old on the circuit, also never got involved, finishing seventh. The final time was a dazzling 1:07.54.

Came to Pass paid $25.20 and the winner's share of $30,000 pushes his career bankroll to $53,200 from two wins in three starts.
