Came Home, Habibti scratched

ARCADIA, Calif. - Came Home and Habibti, both morning line favorites, were withdrawn from Breeders' Cup preps for 2-year-olds at Santa Anita over the weekend.

Came Home, who was entered for Saturday's $250,000 Norfolk Stakes, was scratched after developing a filling in his right ankle, owner John Toffan said. Habibti, who was expected to start in Sunday's $250,000 Oak Leaf Stakes for fillies, was diagnosed with a temperature on Saturday morning, trainer Bob Baffert said.

Came Home, the winner of the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga was scheduled to undergo X-rays on Sunday. A previous set of X-rays was negative, Toffan said.

"He's sound and walking sound, but there's filling there and I don't want to take any chances," Toffan said. "I don't know what the prognosis is."

Habibti won the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on Aug. 26 and is undefeated in two starts. She remains on schedule for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Belmont Park on Oct. 27, Baffert said.

"I'll have to train her up to the Breeders' Cup," Baffert said. "Hopefully, we caught it early enough."

Baffert was seeking a record fifth consecutive win in the Oak Leaf Stakes.
