Cambiocorsa best in Las Cienegas

Cambiocorsa ($5.20) and Jon Court win the Las Cienegas Handicap at Santa Anita on Sunday.

ARCADIA, Calif. - Cambiocorsa stretched her winning streak to 6 with her third stakes win of the year in Sunday's $112,900 at Santa Anita. The victory marked the first graded stakes win for Cambiocorsa, who is unbeaten in seven starts on Santa Anita's hillside turf course.

Cambiocorsa was fully extended to win the Grade 3 Las Cienegas by three-quarters of a length over a fast closing Lock and Key. Ridden by Jon Court, favored Cambiocorsa ($5.20) ran about 6 1-2 furlongs on turf in 1:12.60.

Always near the front, Cambiocorsa dueled with Starkay through early fractions of 21.59 and 43.13 seconds, and led by four lengths in the stretch. The lead diminished quickly in the final sixteenth but the finish arrived in time.

Sandra's Rose finished third in the field of nine fillies and mares.

Cambiocorsa has won 7 of 12 starts and $360,695. Trained by Doug O'Neill, the 4-year-old Cambiocorsa races for Ty and Lee Leatherman and Ran Jan Racing.
