Call Me Lefty takes Texas Stallion Stakes

Call Me Lefty is all alone at the wire, a three-length winner of the $125,000 colts and geldings division of the Texas Stallion Stakes on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

Call Me Lefty remained unbeaten around two turns when he led throughout for a three-length win over Lasttorun in the of the Texas Stallion Stakes on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

It was another four lengths back in third to Hasit.

Call Me Lefty($3.60) broke sharp in the one-mile race for 2-year-olds, and went on to cover the distance over a fast track in 1:38.87. One race prior, the colt was a 10-length winner of a two-turn allowance at Sam Houston.

Call Me Lefty earned $75,000 for the win in the Texas Stallion, which improved his record to three wins from six starts for earnings of $129,400. John Jacinto rode the winner for Christine S. Moore Family Partnership and trainer Tommie Morgan.

Upset in fillies division

Showmetothevilla($33.40) won her maiden in the of the Texas Stallion Stakes when she drove to a one-length victory over Hay Allison. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to favorite Lady Mallory.

Showmetothevilla, making her first start on Lasix, stalked pacesetters Final Attack and Lady Mallory while they dueled through the opening six-furlongs of the one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies in 1:12.99. Showmetothevilla advanced on the final turn, and went on to cover the distance in 1:40.28.

Adrian Ramos rode the winner for Chances Are Racing Stable and trainer Cary Carter.
