Call It the Blues out front

Call It the Blues was on or near the lead every step of the way and improved her record to a perfect 3 for 3 over the River Downs turf course Saturday by winning the $50,000 Horizon.

Trained by Kris Nemann, Call It the Blues pressed from the outside for the early lead, before rallying on the far turn and drawing clear by three lengths in upper stretch. Jockey Nathan Solomon kept the 3-year-old by Part the Waters to task in the stretch and won by 2 3/4 lengths over firm turf. Type A Personality, the 4-5 favorite in the field of 10, was second by a length over Indian Ink, who finished third.

Type A Personality was the victim of a rough trip, getting pinched back at the start and then having her jockey Julio Felix lose an iron near the three-eighths pole. The running time for the 1 1/16-mile Horizon was 1:43.60. Call It the Blues returned $14.20 as the third choice in the wagering.
