Grade 1 winner and freshman sire Dixie Chatter was represented by his first winner June 7 when his daughter Chattering Nikita captured a maiden special weight event at Northlands Park.

The 2-year-old filly, who was bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm LLC, led throughout to win the race by a length, covering 3 1/2 furlongs in :40.60. It was the second start for Chattering Nikita, who is out of the stakes-placed Never Tabled mare Mirabilia and is a half-sister to Turf Paradise stakes winners R El Jefe, Mirando, and Bella Cardona. She was fifth in her debut at Turf Paradise in April.

Dixie Chatter was a stakes winner every season he raced, winning the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes as a juvenile, the Oceanside Stakes as a 3-year-old, and the Grade 2 Arcadia Handicap at 4. The son of Dixie Union placed in four other graded stakes events, including a third in the Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap. He retired with four wins from 13 career starts for earnings of $464,606.

Dixie Chatter stands at Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, Calif., for an advertised fee of $5,000 in 2013. He has 44 foals in his first crop.

Out of the unraced Deputy Minister mare Mini Chat, Dixie Chatter is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Rumor. His second dam is Eclipse Award winner Phone Chatter.
