California invader looks best

PORTLAND, Ore. - Statebred Quarter Horses are in the spotlight on Sunday when a field of 10 contests the $10,000-added Oregon-bred Juvenile at 400 yards.

California invader Victory's Hope is the one to beat off a string of sharp tries at Los Alamitos and Fresno. Victory's Hope, a son of Red Hot Rhythm who races for Dave Nelson and The Victory Group, has yet to finish worse than fourth in six career starts. In his last two outings, Victory's Hope finished fourth in the Grade 3 California Juvenile Challenge at Los Alamitos on Aug. 26, then second in the Fresno Futurity on Oct. 16. Danny Boag has the call from trainer James Glenn Jr.

Victory's Hope figures to get his sternest challenge from Dazzlin Dory, a filly from the barn of trainer Ron Raley. Dazzlin Dory, a daughter of Special Leader, is coming off a sharp victory over allowance rivals here on Oct. 29.

In the day's best Thoroughbred offering, Delirious Laughter will try for a second straight win in the one-mile feature, a $4,000 starter allowance race.

Delirious Laughter, a 6-year-old from the barn of trainer Gene Davis, is coming off a length win over $5,000 rivals in a mile test here on Oct. 30. It was the eighth win from 48 starts for Delirious Laughter, who will have six rivals on Sunday.

Delirious Laughter figures to get a stern challenge from Forty Durango, who is dropping after running third for $10,000 in a 5 1/2-furlong race here on opening day, Oct. 22.
