Calder restricts two barns

Email

Two barns at Calder Race Course were placed under restriction on Tuesday for precautionary reasons after a horse died from unknown causes the previous afternoon.

According to track officials, remains from the deceased horse were sent to the state lab at the University of Florida in Gainesville to determine the cause of death. Results from those tests were expected to be made available on Wednesday morning.

A total of 16 different trainers were affected by the restrictions. Horses in the two restricted barns were not permitted to go to the main track on Tuesday but were allowed over the training track after the general population had completed its training at 9:15 a.m.
