Street Girl got past E B Ryder just before the wire to win Saturday’s $100,000 Calder Oaks.

The 1 1/16-mile race, originally scheduled for turf, was shifted to a sloppy and sealed main track. As a result, Summer of Fun, who would have been a heavy favorite, was scratched, along with two other 3-year-old fillies, leaving just five runners.

Street Girl ($4), who inherited the role of favorite, looked as though she would have to settle for second in a stretch duel as E B Ryder and Hector Sanchez edged in front by about a half-length in deep stretch. But Edgard Zayas kept urging Street Girl for more and she inched her way forward to prevail by a nose. Faerie Queen finished third at 7-2. The winning time was 1:46.90.

Street Girl, trained by Manny Azpurua for Rontos Racing Stable Corp., had made her first seven career starts at Gulfstream Park, winning her maiden on her fifth try in an off-the-turf event for a $65,000 claiming tag. In her most recent start, Street Girl finished second going a mile on the main track in a first-level optional $75,000 claimer.
