Close It Out is winless in three starts since winning the Jack Dudley Sprint last fall (above).

MIAMI - Close It Out, who upset Bahamian Squall to capture the Jack Dudley Sprint Handicap here last fall, will top a field of 10 older sprinters in Saturday’s six-furlong Champali overnight stakes. Close It Out is winless in three starts since the Jack Dudley and has been freshened since finishing fourth in the Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship three months earlier.

The late-running Close It Out will face a group that includes Wickersham, who posted a career-best 100 Beyer Speed Figure finishing second in an entry-level optional-claiming race in his Gulfstream finale, and familiar foes such as Black Diamond Cat and Cajun Breeze.

Latin Rocks zips, Csaba lopes

Former claimer Latin Rocks, who tired badly after setting the pace into the stretch of the Musical Romance Stakes here last month, worked a bullet half-mile in 46.83 seconds and galloped out five-eighths in 1:00.12 on Wednesday here for trainer Marcel Navarro. On the other end of the work spectrum, Grade 3 winner Csaba barely got out of an open gallop breezing the same distance in 52.61. Csaba has been idle since finishing fifth in Gulfstream’s Grade 1 Donn Handicap on Feb. 9.
