Calder: Chispiski goes wire to wire

MIAMI - Chispiski led throughout to post her second straight stakes victory, a 3 3/4-length decision over Fly Me Crazy and four other older rivals in the $75,000 U Can Do It Handicap at Calder

Chispiski ($7.20), the only 3-year-old in the field, broke alertly and quickly sped to a clear lead under regular rider Julio Garcia while setting lively fractions of 21.92 and 45.11 seconds. Chispiski turned back a bid from Fly Me Crazy entering the stretch, and then gradually increased her advantage despite appearing to tire a bit in the final furlong.

Fly Me Crazy remained second-best despite drifting through the late stages of the 6 1/2-furlong race. Rule Brittania finished third after racing very wide into the stretch.

Chispiski, who has now won six of her last seven starts, covered the distance in 1:18.54 over a fast track. She is trained by Ron Spatz for the Brazil Stable.
