Calder: Angelica Zapata returns from vacation to dominate Stage Door Betty
By Mike Welsch
Email
MIAMI - Musical Romance may be the most notable older filly and mare stabled at Calder this summer but Angelica Zapata is quickly establishing herself as a star in her own right.
Angelica Zapata returned from an 11-week vacation to dominate six overmatched rivals in Saturday’s $75,000 Stage Door Betty Handicap, drawing off to an easy 7 1/2-length victory over longshot My Pal Crisy for her fourth straight stakes win. Callmethesqueeze finished third.
Angelica Zapata stalked the early pace of Annie Roe in the 1 1/16-mile Stage Door Betty. A 4-year-old homebred daughter of Sharp Humor owned by Herman Van Den Broeck, Angelica Zapata readily took command approaching the quarter pole, and then drew away with complete authority once set down through the stretch.
My Pal Crisy was easily second best, finishing three lengths clear of Callmethesqueeze. Frolic’s Revenge made a run to contention on the final turn but could not sustain the bid, tailing off through the stretch to be fourth while making her second start in a week.
Angelica Zapata completed the distance in 1:44.86 and returned $2.40. She was ridden for the first time by Calder’s leading jockey, Luis Saez.
DRF should refund its customers who bought PPs online for today 9/22/2012. I spent $14.95 and could not access the formulator or the classic PPs. Wont be back till they do right to the people who they screwed today

ONE NINE NINE raced quite wide en route to a commendable second behind future stakes winner Man Stuff the only time she saw action last spring. She wintered at Payson Park before working four times here on the Poly, and should be ready to rumble with Da Silva riding for a live barn. GLORIOUS ANGEL ran against a speed bias when fifth in an April 21 maiden special. Trainer Mark Casse hit with 20% of his second-out droppers to maiden-claiming company over the past five years ($1.50 ROI). MORNING HAS BROKEN was a chalky second vs.
