Check out the strength of MARIANNE ROSE's fourth-place finish in the Angie C Stakes at Emerald Downs three starts back. Four horses exited that race to win their next start, and the track didn't seem to favor Marianne Rose's pacesetting style that day. She handled this distance without a problem last time out at Hastings, and doesn't seem like a need-the-lead type. Making her first start for Jeff Mullins, she may utilize stalk and pounce tactics from close to the pace.
LITTLE CITY projects as the one to beat based on the 80 Beyer Speed Figure she earned winning her maiden at Hollywood on May 25. She looms the speed of the speed, but was a bit late to change leads last time out in the Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar, and will have to stretch out in distance.
QUICK LITTLE MISS was favored over Little City two starts back, then didn't have an easy trip breaking from the rail in return to the races at Del Mar. She's still a maiden, but should get a favorable pace scenario, and figures to be running hard in the lane.
MISS MELISSA ran well in her first start against winners, and she may be more comfortable coming from just off the pace. She gets a solid rider switch to David Flores, and should be used in exotics. TORIKINS didn't have an easy trip from rail post last time out, but may be forced wide in this spot.
