Bullet Catcher alone with race under belt


WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Three colts and two fillies will start in Sunday's featured Graduation Stakes at Assiniboia. The 5 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-olds will carry a purse of $27,500.

Bullet Catcher, the only entrant with race experience, won a maiden claiming race at Stampede Park June 15. Trained by Dale Saunders, Bullet Catcher will break from post 3 under Alan Cuthbertson.

Corporate Shuffle won this race last year for the K-5 Stable and trainer Darla Singh. This Year, the same connections have their hopes resting with Ness Gadoll.

Purchased for $50,000 as a yearling, Ness Gadoll will be ridden by Rohan Singh and will break from post 2.

Yo Mac has been training well at Canterbury Park and will debut on Lasix for trainer Greg Tracy. Yo Mac breaks from post 4 under Tim Gardiner.

One of two fillies in the race, Peg's Princess was purchased as a weanling for $3,500. Trained by Tom Dodds, Peg's Princess will break from the outside under Jerry Pruitt.

Miss Gold Dee, the other filly, was purchased this past May for $25,000. Danny Vergara will ride for trainer Emile Corbel.

* Nominations for next Sunday's $27,500 Derby Trial closed Thursday. The nominees for the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds are Miki Bleu Eyes, Fancy As, Kenyawin, Budge, Corporate Shuffle, Muskrat Ramble, G and L Special, and Brass Ruhler.
