Bull Ranch wires Premier's

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Bull Ranch led from start to finish to win the $129,000 Premier's at Hastings on Sunday.

With leading rider Justin Stein aboard, Bull Rush had a very easy time of it while carving out slow fractions of :24.13, 48.99, and 1:14.72, before drawing off to a decisive 7 1/4 length victory. The The final time for the 1 3/8 miles over a sloppy track, was 2:05.23.

"I had a ton of horse the whole way and he just dragged me to the front," said Stein. "I felt pretty confident we were going to win when I heard Dan say there were no challengers." Stein was referring to track announcer, Dan Jukich.

Trained by Robert Rohman, Bull Ranch was coming off of a very good second place finish in the Grade 3 British Columbia Derby and he paid $10.00 as the second choice in the wagering. The favorite, Alabama Rain, finished second.

Owned by the Simichiello Stables, Bull Ranch earned $74,280. The Kentucky-bred 3-year-old was facing older stakes horses for the first time.
