Brown's newest gem

Trainer Wilson Brown almost always comes up with a good 2-year-old during the Remington Park meet. His latest "discovery" is Aspen Gal, who will be shooting for her third straight stakes win Saturday night in the $35,000 Cimarron.

Brown won the race last year with the filly Tulupai, who, along with Mister Deville and It'sallinthechase, are among the top young horses the trainer has raced at Remington.

Aspen Gal, who will be ridden by Cliff Berry in the 6 1/2-furlong Cimarron, for 2-year-old fillies, won the $40,000 Prairie Meadows Debutante on Sept. 6 and the $35,000 Lassie on Sept. 7. Tulupai won those races in 2002.

* Jim Byers will serve as track announcer at Remington for the final two weeks of the meet, beginning Nov. 13. He was the original racecaller at the track, and will be taking over for Don Stevens, who has been hired as the track announcer for Delta Downs.
