Brother Terry looks to extend streak

The $100,000 Cleveland Gold Cup, the richest race on Thistledown's stakes calendar for Ohio-bred 3-year-olds, has drawn a competitive field of nine, topped by Brother Terry, who enters Saturday's 1 1/8-mile race riding a three-race winning streak.

Brother Terry won the one-mile Ohio Freshman at Beulah Park in his last start of 2008 and has won back-to-back stakes here going six furlongs to begin this season.

Brother Terry is trained by Donn Rowe, who leads all trainers with three Ohio-funded stakes victories this year. Brother Terry is owned by Charles Braden and will be ridden by Christian Pilares.

Trainer Miguel Feliciano has won this race three of the last four years. He will run Bold Captain, who won the Ohio Juvenile here last year but is winless in four starts this season, including the Green Carpet at River Downs and the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. Bold Captain finished fourth in the Pasco behind Musket Man, the third-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby.

Halmi won the Green Carpet, then came back to be unplaced in the Gendelman Memorial, also at River Downs.

Another contender is Raise the Reward, who finished third in the Green Carpet.
