Brooke’s a Bookin and jockey Rico Flores win the By the Light Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths Friday night.

Brooke’s a Bookin pulled a 22-1 upset in the slop Friday night at Delta Downs, rolling to a 2 1/2-length win over Another Bond Girl in the $75,000 By the Light Stakes. The night’s final two races, which were to be run immediately following the stakes, both had to be canceled due to heavy rain.

Brooke’s a Bookin ($47) was always prominent in the By the Light, pushing eventual fourth-place finisher Figureitsacat through fractions of 23.10 seconds for the opening quarter and 48.41 for the half-mile. Brooke’s a Bookin took over from there and covered the seven furlongs run around two turns in 1:27.77.

Rico Flores rode the winner for Jess George and trainer Tim Dixon.

Brooke’s a Bookin earned $45,000 for the win, which was her third from five career starts. She has earned $81,255. Brooke’s a Bookin is a daughter of Jonesboro and was bred in Arkansas by George.
