Bridgetown lowered the Monmouth Park course record for about 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf with his front-running victory Monday in the $104,000 Gilded Time Stakes for 3-year-olds.
The 13-10 favorite, Bridgetown was clocked in 1:00.67.
The Gilded Time and the $95,200 Sorority for 2-year-old fillies were the featured events on the final day of Monmouth's summer meet before a Labor Day crowd of 8,616.
Bridgetown, trained by Ken McPeek and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, beat Partyallnightlong by 2 1/2 lengths with Westover Wildcat third.
Bridgetown improved to 4-2-0 in 7 starts, all on grass. His other top efforts were a victory in the Grade 3 Summer Stakes at Woodbine last September and a pacesetting second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
* Unbridled Praise overcame a stumble at the start to track and then edge past Maple Forest to win the Sorority by three-quarters of a length.
Unbridled Praise ($6.60) improved to 2 for 3 for the team of trainer Bret Calhoun and jockey Miguel Mena. The time was 1:12.48 for the six furlongs.
Racing continues at Monmouth with a fall meet on Saturdays and Sunday through Nov. 21.
