BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, Nov. 4

Email

This week we have a special treat: Breeders' Cup plays based on BreezeFigs earned at this year's 2-year-old sales for the Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies. We also have pix for others who did not come out of those sales but whose stride lengths (SL) impressed us in the breezes we caught last week and this week in their final Breeders' Cup preps for the Juvenile Fillies, Juvenile, Sprint and Classic. Plus, we're giving you one 2-year-old maiden race at Calder that looks like a juicy opportunity. (See our reports on stride length by clicking .)

Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies: Several of these fillies earned good BreezeFigs at the sales, and have gone on to glory, such as Appealing Zophie, Cash Included, Gatorize, She's Included and Quick Little Miss. In addition, we caught Bel Air Beauty andSutra in their last breezes. This race often cries out for a closer, and Quick Little Miss could be the one. She likes to lay off the pace and her 24.6 foot SL at BARMAR this year was underscored as real in her last breeze this week which she finished with a 25.38 SL, terrific for a filly. Both Cash Included and She's Incuded have maintained SLs consistently near 24 feet, but the pace may use them up. We also think Bel Air Beauty did very well in her last breeze with a near 25-foot SL - watch the board.

Breeders' Cup Juvenile: Three horses hit the bell here. Though not a 2-year-old sale horse, we liked Stormello's 24.4 foot SL in his last breeze, and Skip Code, who came out of the strong OBSFEB sale with a 25.7 foot SL length showed a solid 24.4 SL in his recent stakes win. CP West, who showed very little speed at KEEAPR, but had a 24.6 foot stride length, might get a piece.

Breeders' Cup Sprint: Henny Hughes showed a 24.5 foot SL at the BARMAR sale last year, and is a justifiable favorite because he has not gone backwards. But watch Kelly's Landing, who had a monster 27.5 foot SL in his last breeze at Keeneland - strides are a little longer on Polytrack but this guy has the style to sit outside and pounce on a fast pace. Siren Lure is the sleeper - in his last breeze he went from a 22.37 foot SL at the start to 24.44 at the end.

Breeders' Cup Classic: OK, hand it to Bernadini if you wish, but do not ignore the following: Brother Derek, if he settles, has maintained his great BARMAR form of last year (25 foot SL) with a longer stride in his last work (25.38). LavaMan is the Everready Bunny of the group - same 24 foot SL from beginning to end, and that kind of horse always is in the hunt. Suaveincreased his SL three feet to over 24 feet at the end of his breeze, while Sun King came home with a 25.38 SL in his work.

Calder, , Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs

The morning line odds may back the horses with experience, but BreezeFigs will help you make money on this race with Steelix, an OBSJUN Group 1 graduate who earned a 67 BreezeFig (high was 68) with a 24.7 foot SL. He has had a couple nice bullet works and will probably start of better than the 6-to-1 morning line odds. A horse to use with him is Saints Promise who went through two sales - not shown in the PPs. He had stride lengths close to 24 feet at both OBSAPR and OBSJUN, earning Group 1 status both times.
