for more information).

Churchill Downs, , Maiden Special, 5 Furlongs

There are four fillies in this race that came out of the 2-year-old sales this year, but past performances show only two because one was scratched before she was to go through the ring (Bedside Story) and another was an RNA (Taletobetold). Both of them have already started, as has She's Roughin It, and all three look very good from a number of perspectives. The fourth, Stay Home, comes out of a very good sale as well with a Group 3, two under Par BreezeFig, and she might be considered. The favorite is likely to be the pricey Pletcher-trained yearling purchase, Come Together, who is also making her second start. Still, we're leaning to the BreezeFigs horses beginning with Taletobetold, who had a just above-average stride length during both her works but did it at two distances, and earned Group 1 and Group 2 figs, which is good. She ran into a freaky eight-over-Par BreezeFigs tigress in her first race and should move up today. Bedside Story comes out of a slightly weaker sale, but had a very good Group 1, four over Par, fig at a quarter mile in her work, and that's very good. She was off slowly but still did well in her first start and the extra distance today should help. She's Roughin It got in the mix in her first start and tired, but with an extra sixteenth today might be able to settle a bit and kick in with her very long 25 fooot-plus stride length. This could be a very good, and important, race.
