BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, March 4

Email

opportunities:

Aqueduct, , Maiden Special, 5 1/2 Furlongs

Five horses were run through the 2-year-old sales, but only two appear as having been sold in the PP's. We saw Tripped Up at both OBSMAR as well as OBSJUN, where he got a higher BreezeFig in a weaker sale--not good enough for quality here. Little Cherokee was an RNA at FTFFEB, a high-class sale and only one under Par, but hasn't shown much yet. That leaves Uncle Festor, Santa's Special and Herecomeshollywood--all of them breezed at EASMAY, but only Herecomeshollywood was sold. They all breezed a quarter mile at the sale and were within a point of each other on BreezeFigs. While we like all three, Unlce Festor is really the weaker half of an entry with Santa's Special who ran well last time out. Herecomeshollywood is a firster, has been working well at Philly, and should be used in a box exacta with the entry.

Tampa Bay, , Maiden Special, 7 Furlongs

This is a tough field fillied with well-bred fillies, and only one is a BreezeFigs horse--but you won't find that in the PP's. It's Fair Maiden, who was an RNA at OBSFEB, one of the best sales, where she earned a five over Par 66 BreezeFig and was a Group 2 horse. She's still owned by the people who tried to sell her at that sale, which means they either like her or still can't sell her a year after the sale. As usual a horse like this merits a closer look and she should hit the board and might be a good gimmick filler.

Gulfstream, , Swale Stakes, 7 Furlongs

Seven of the 12 horses earned BreezeFigs at the 2-year-old sales of 2005, but you only get Noonmark, Praying For Cash and Showing Up on today's sheet because they've started four times or less. If you've been using BreezeFigs for the past 10 months you would know that Catcominatcha earned a 66 at OBSMAR, a sale at which Bear Character earned a 69 and In Summation a 65. Beacon Shine earned a 62 at the OBSFEB sale. Noonmark and Praying for Cash both earned huge BreezeFigs at KEEAPRl (72 and 68 respectively), while Showing Up was RNA at Group 3 at OBSFEB and then came back at EASMAY to earn a Group 1 BreezeFig of 61. We like Noonmark and Praying for Cash, with Bear Character hopefully returning to form after the layoff to get a piece of the action.
