BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, March 18th

(10th) did the unexpected--got off sharply and was pressed through a wicked pace, looked good but was slammed at the 1/8 pole and wasn't pursued with. At 14-to-1, he looks good to bet back in his next start.

There are 26 races at 14 tracks on Saturday with horses. Here are just three of at leasty a dozen juicy plays:

Aqueduct, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

A couple of weeks ago we liked a first-time Philly shipper, Herecomeshollywood, in a situation like this, but he was scratched. He comes out of a decent sale, EASMAY, with a decent one over Par BreezeFig, and he has decent works. The two other BreezeFigs horses in this race come out of the much stronger FTFFEB sale with almost identical BreezeFigs, though Nelson St. Swing was two under Par and Tuwawi was one under Par. You can use horses like these in relatively modest fields, and these two each have a race under their belts. Still, the firster might have a slight edge from the outside, but all three ought to be strongly considered.

Gulfstream, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

One of four super betting races with BreezeFigs horses, this one is loaded with first-time well-bred colts with top connections. We liked In Certain Circles in a similar spot a couple of weeks ago and he ran very well at 15-to-1 to finish third. Tab him back--it looks like his OBSMAR two over Par BreezeFig is legit (he was RNA at that sale). There's a sneaky firster who was scratched out of the KEEAPR sale--Oldschoolhouseroad--who was Group 1 with a four over Par BreezeFig, a combination which can be explosive if the horse is ready to run. Both these horses have the right connections and should be used.

Oaklawn, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

Four races on the bill here to pick from, but we like two sneaky deals in this race. Livey is one of those horses that was RNA at one sale, OBSAPR, where she earned a four over Par BreezeFig, and then was sold at the next sale, OBSJUN, where she was one over Par--similar figs at modest sales. She came out in September and did OK, comes back today in a good spot. On the outside, Maria Pia makes her debut off a one under Par KEEAPR BreezeFig that works well with this type of competition. She is well bred for speed, is working well, and should be strongly considered as well.
