BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, Mar. 31st

Sorry for not being here last week--we were actually gathering the digital video data we use to generate BreezeFigs at a couple of 2-year-old sale breeze shows, data which you will begin to see on your BreezeFigs sheets when 2-year-old racing gets under way shortly. For now, we'll still concentrate on 3-year-old maiden races, and for those DRF-Plus Members who are new to the BreezeFigs handicapping service, please take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Good luck!

Lots of good betting opportunities this weekend. Here's a highlight:

Hawthorne, , Maiden Special Weight, 5 1/2 Furlongs

Here's a perfect example of how BreezeFigs can help you handicap. Three of these horses come out of last year's 2-year-old sales, but only one, Deputy Sreva, is listed in the PP's as having been sold. The other two, Batteriesnotinclued and Vicarious Thief, show that they were sold as yearlings, but they actually failed to meet their owner's reserves (RNA) at the 2-year-old sales after breezing--it's noted right there in the "Status" column on your BreezeFigs sheet. These three are all first-timers, and if they're sound, you might want to punch a ticket on Batteriesnotincluded, who showed a very impressive 25 foot-plus stride length (SL) at the tony Keeneland April sale last year to earn a Group 1 two-over-Par BreezeFig. Deputy Sreva showed a shorter SL (it was actually shorter than the average SL for colts that day) but was still over Par at the weaker OBSJUN sale, and he might be a gimmick play. Vicarious Thief might be a better gimmick however--even though he was three-under Par at OBSMAR, that's a stronger sale than OBSJUN and he had a decent SL that was slightly longer than average for the day. Look them over and take your pick--an intriguing betting race, indeed. Good luck!
