BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, June 23rd

Last week we gave you two 2-Y-O maiden races and scored out on both--a stone cold $236 exacta at Churchill (Sok Sok and Luvandgo) and a stickout debut winner at Philadelphia Park (Philly Gal). We stressed stride length (SL) in those picks--horses that showed SL's at the 2-Y-O sales that were longer than the average for that day are better bets. To underscore that, here's a fact: Between June 15 and June 21 there were 11 2-Y-O maiden winners on your BreezeFigs sheets--every single one of them had a longer-than-average SL at the sales, right there on the sheet.

Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there.

This week, we have two maiden 3-Y-O races to look at closely, and a note on a 2-Y-O maiden race. Good luck!

Calder Race Course, , Maiden Special, Mile & 70 Yards

The 3/8 breeze by Sensational Image at last year's OBSAPR sale was yielded one of the longest strides we have seen at that distance--24.7 feet, more than 1 1/2 feet longer than the average. This helped earn him a four-over-Par BreezeFig of 62, and with one race under his belt the added distance should fit him well.

Hollywood Park, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

Making his debut, Barbecue Eddie looks like a nice BreezeFigs bet. The gelding earned a six-over-Par 71 BreezeFig at OBSMAR last year with a 23.4-ft SL, half a foot longer than the average for sale. Might be worth a close look.

NOTE: Check out the 7th race at Churchill on Saturday--there are five BreezeFigs 2-Y-Os in this maiden and if you use them judiciously, you might have a superfecta brewing. Good luck!
