BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, July 1st

In addition to the maiden races for 3-year-olds, there are several races for 2-year-olds who chalked up BreezeFigs at this year's sales on tomorrow's cards. Three of those races have great gimmick opportunities. (Click to check out the new format for 2-year-old races).

Calder, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

Here is a perfect example of how BreezeFigs work and can help your betting. Double Action is listed as a homebred in the past performances that has never been sold. Actually, this colt breezed and was offered at OBSAPR were he did not sell (RNA) at a fairly decent price (47K). He earned a Group 2, even-Par BreezeFig with a stride length well above average. Here is a horse that most believe just started training May 23rd, but because of BreezeFigs you know he has been working since mid April--he should be used in the gimmicks.

Calder, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

Suave Royalty is part of an entry and may be scratched. If she goes, keep in mind that she should improve off her first outing bcause she was a Group 1 horse on the BreezeFigs at OBSAPR where she showed a stride length a foot longer than average. Although she is listed as sold for $100,000, she actually is running in the name of her breeder, so she was really a buy-back, and they must like her a lot.

Pleasanton, , Juan Gonzales Stakes, 5 Furlongs

Did they name this race after the Texas Ranger's slugger? In any case, Untouched Talent is making her debut in this stakes and she is likely to be one of the favorites--and she should be. She was a 500K purchase at BARMAR where she earned an even-Par Group 1 BreezeFig with a 24 1/2 foot stride length. She won't pay much, so shop around for a gimmick with her--this is a nice filly.
